I know what I'm doing, just give me a direct link...

There are three entry points to the Portal service hosted at Monash University:

  • MeRC & MeSsAGE Lab Nimrod Portal
This is the normal username+password entry into the Portal (also known as the ARCS-Nimrod portal).
  • Shibbolized/SLCS-enabled Nimrod Portal
This is the Shibboleth single sign-on entry point for users from institutions participating in the Australian Access Federation. It also enables support for short-lived credentials via ARCS SLCS. Unregistered users or registered users logging in via Shibboleth for the first time will first see a page where they can register for this method of access.
NB: Camino for Mac OS X appears to be unable to handle the SLCS delegation service

Note that the service is now hosted on virtualised infrastructure. Existing accounts have been migrated, but please contact support if you experience any problems.

Where can I run Nimrod?

Nimrod automatically copies needed files to remote resources (including clusters, grid resources and clouds). Nimrod only needs to be installed on one machine.

  • You can Install the Nimrod Tools, or
  • Read instructions on how to run Nimrod at Monash, or
  • Read instructions on how to run Nimrod at ARCS (the ARCS-Nimrod or Nimrod/MeRC service), or
  • Read instructions on how to run Nimrod at PRAGMA, or
  • Read instructions on how to run Nimrod at UK eScience

How do I run Nimrod?

As a new user, the best place to start is with the Nimrod Portal. The documentation describes the concept of Nimrod as well as giving a few "plan file" examples.

Here is a brief Nimrod Portal tutorial .

If you are a CLI Nimrod/G person, Nimrod/G documentation  will give you a good understanding of how Nimrod/G works.

The Nimrod/O Manual (PDF)  gives detailed explanation of Nimrod/O's "schedule file" syntax and the optimization methods you can use. You will need this if you want to run Nimrod/O with Nimrod/G or on the Nimrod Portal.
